East Bay native Sarah “Ryder” Spires loves sharing her passion for Santa Cruz. Ryder holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in criminal justice. She spent her early career in law enforcement, earning certifications as a crisis and hostage negotiator, peer and group counselor, and instructor in multiple fields. The experience she gained working with legal codes, supporting her colleagues, and educating others serves her well as an agent. Ryder began looking for a new way to help others in 2007, and she began a part-time career as an agent. In 2017, after a career-ending injury, she retired from law enforcement and pursued real estate full-time.
A natural teacher, Ryder understands that knowledge is key to a stress-free deal. She doesn’t just help her clients purchase a property; she also helps them purchase peace of mind. Ryder brings her laid-back, helpful attitude to all demographics, from land buyers to investment properties and vacation homes, but she is particularly passionate about sharing her expertise with first-time buyers, low-income clients, and law enforcement personnel. Ryder is a certified resource for senior real estate sales, first-time buyer sales, short sale and foreclosure sales, and probate and trust sales.
Ryder volunteers with a wide variety of organizations in her community, including Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Concerns of Police Survivors. She is passionate about Soroptimist International of Capitola by the Sea, a nonprofit that provides mentorship and scholarships to young girls and single mothers. Ryder can often be found enjoying the ocean, painting, or traveling.
